Based at ISERP, James works primarily with epidemiologist Andrew Rundle on the Built Environment and Health Project. He received his BA and MA in Environmental Geography from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to coming to Columbia, he worked as a contracted GIS Specialist to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Duluth, Minnesota. His research interests focus on the applications of GIS and remote sensing in spatially integrated social sciences, specifically human-environment interactions on land-use change, physical activity, and health risk.
