Escaping the Resource Curse: Optimal Strategies and Best Practices for Petroleum-Exporting Developing Countries

by Macartan Humphreys (Political Science)

This project aims to create a practical guidebook, published by OSI and targeted at policymakers, policy analysts and activists concerned with the management of extractive industries in developing countries. We propose and 18-month sequence of activity to elicit, articulate and then disseminate the lessons learned from a generation of experience around the world. We expect the resulting book to be a key document helping to forge consensus on the institutional mechanisms and policy choices needed to maintain transparency and accountability.
