Sexual Networks of Non-Gay Identified Men Who Have Sex with Men

by Peter Bearman (Sociology) and Richard Elovich (Sociomedical Sciences)

This seed grant will develop a complex feasibility study to collect sexual network data on one of the key hard-to-reach populations involved in the current phase of the HIV epidemic in the United States. The population of interest is non-gay identified men who have sex with men (hereafter, MSMs). The project involves defining the geographic spaces where non gay identified men have sex with other men, piloting a strategy to recruit key informants and collect data, and collecting preliminary data in support of an investigator initiated application to CDC, NIH, or NIDA to support a full-scale study of MSM sexual networks.
