Arctic Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants Arctic Social Sciences, Arctic System Sciences, and Arctic Observing Network

The National Science Foundation (NSF) invites investigators at U.S. organizations to submit proposals for Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (DDRIGs) to the Arctic Sciences Section, Office of Polar Programs (OPP) to conduct dissertation-level research about and related to the Arctic region. The Programs that are currently accepting DDRIG proposals are the Arctic Social Sciences (ASSP), Arctic System Science (ARCSS), and Arctic Observing Network (AON) Programs.

James P. Danky Fellowships

In honor of Jim Danky’s long service to print culture scholarship, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Historical Society, is offering two short-term research fellowship awards for 2022-2023. The Danky Fellowships provide $1000 per individual for expenses while conducting research using the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Bobst Center for Peace and Justice Dissertation Scholars Program

The Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice is pleased to announce the launch of the Princeton Dissertation Scholars Program, aimed at PhD students who can contribute to the University’s diversity, broadly defined, including members of groups that have been historically, and are presently, underrepresented in the academy or in particular disciplines. This program will offer financial resources and research opportunities to further develop and refine dissertation projects.

Dissertation Research Grants

The Russell Sage Foundation (RSF) has established a dissertation research grants (DRG) program to support innovative and high-quality dissertation research projects that address questions relevant to RSF’s priority areas: Behavioral Science and Decision Making in Context; Future of Work; Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; Immigration and Immigrant Integration; and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality.

Research on the Science and Technology Enterprise: Indicators, Statistics, and Methods Dissertation Grant

NCSES welcomes efforts by the research community to use NCSES or other data to conduct research on the S&T enterprise, develop improved survey methodologies that could benefit NCSES surveys, explore alternate data sources that could supplement NCSES data, create and improve indicators of S&T activities and resources, strengthen methodologies to analyze S&T statistical data, and explore innovative ways to communicate S&T statistics.

Behavioral Interventions Scholars

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) anticipates soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using approaches grounded in behavioral science or behavioral economics to examine specific research questions of relevance to social services programs and policies.

Fellowships in Aerospace History

The Fellowships in Aerospace History are offered annually by the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) to support significant scholarly research projects in aerospace history. These fellowships grant the opportunity to engage in significant and sustained advanced research in all aspects of the history of aerospace from the earliest human interest in flight to the present, including cultural and intellectual history, economic history, history of law and public policy, and the history of science, engineering, and management.

U.S. Household Food Security Measurement

To mark the 25th anniversary of U.S. household food security measurement, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (USDA ERS) will fund a suite of competitive grants on food security measurement methods, data, and future research needs. The selection and coordination of the projects will be managed by an external cooperator, a collaboration between Tufts University (Dr. Parke Wilde) and the University of Missouri (Dr. Irma Arteaga).
