Fellowships for Digital Collections

The Omohundro Institute is pleased to offer fellowships for scholars at all levels working in partnership with special collections libraries and historical societies. The Fellowships for Digital Collections are part of the Lapidus Initiative. In concert with other OI projects promoting creative use of digital tools and materials, these fellowships are intended to bring scholars and collections specialists together to make collections available for digital scholarship.

Andrew W. Mellon Mediterranean Regional Research Fellowship Program

To support research in the humanities and social sciences in the Mediterranean region. Applicants may be PhD candidates or early career professors.

Multi-Country Research Fellowship Program

To support research in social sciences, humanities, and related natural sciences. Fellows must do research in at least two countries outside of the United States during the fellowship period.

Hodson Trust – John Carter Brown Fellowship

To support a fellowship for research and writing at the John Carter Brown Library in Rhode Island and Washington College in Maryland.

John Carter Brown Library fellowships

The library provides fellowships for 2-10 months to do research in its collections. Graduate students and professors studying colonial US history are eligible to apply, and various fellowships are offered in a multitude of sub disciplines.

Patrick Henry Writing Fellowship

To support an academic-year residency at Washington College in Maryland. Applicants must be working on a book related to the history or legacy of the American Revolutionary War.

To support two-month fellowships at member institutions of the consortium, including historical societies and university libraries, among other institutions in New England.

To support research on the American Civil War at the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Boston Athenaeum. Fellows will be in residence for at least a month at each institution.
