Research and Evaluation on Gangs and Gang Violence

NIJ is seeking applications for the funding of research and program evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and reduce gang activity, violence, and victimization in the United States. Gangs and gang members are responsible for a large amount of crime and violence in many localities; and are responsible for a disproportionate share in those communities most afflicted by crime and violence.

Crime and Violence Initiative

The Crime and Violence Initiative (CVI) fosters experimental research on crime and social and political violence. Crime and violence can hinder economic development and urban growth, and exacerbate governance challenges by fostering corruption and draining public sector resources. Given the wide reach of these adverse effects, the initiative funds evaluations that focus on preventing, mitigating, and responding to the effects of crime and violence.

Research on the Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of Elderly Individuals

The goals of the Elder Mistreatment program of research are to improve knowledge and understanding of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. NIJ strives to provide objective and independent knowledge and validated tools to reduce violence against elderly individuals, and promote healing and justice for victims. The objectives of this solicitation are to fund high-quality research projects in the area of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
