Food and Health Research Using the Consumer Food Data System

RWJF and ERS are announcing a call for proposals (CFP) for researchers who will use one or more restricted-use data assets from the CFDS. We seek to develop a cohort of researchers from diverse academic disciplines and institutions who will produce policy-relevant research on food policy; food retail markets; consumer behaviors related to food purchases and diet; and USDA nutrition assistance programs. It is our hope that the resulting research evidence will inform RWJF’s goal of creating equitable access to nutritious food.

Equity-Focused Policy Research

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support action-oriented research that advances health equity, builds the knowledge base, and informs policymaking to increase access to nutrition supports and reduce nutrition disparities. (RWJF is supporting research on the two other policy areas addressed in the research agenda—access to income supports and ECE—through separate calls for proposals.) Evidence generated through funded projects should inform practice and policy and guide practitioners and policymakers (federal, state, and local) in setting priorities and allocating resources.
